I am an Active Duty, US Army Officer with over 24 years of service. I enlisted in the Army in 1996 as a Cavalry Scout and in 2001, was assigned to 10th Special Forces Group. In 2011 I attended Officer Candidacy School and commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer. I will retire in January 2025. I started training Russian Sambo in 1999 under the world-famous Gokor and transitioned to BJJ when I moved to Colorado Springs in 2000. I began my BJJ journey under Bill Hosken at Colorado Springs BJJ and continued under him until I moved to NY in 2007. In 2007 I was the head BJJ instructor for Team Bomb Squad MMA in Cortland, NY. Team Bomb Squad was the first home of future MMA Champions Jon Jones and Aljamain Sterling to name a few. I competed from white belt to brown belt, culminating in my winning of the World Grappling Championships hosted by Full Contact Fighter in 2008 (advanced Masters division). I received my black belt from Professor Bill Hosken in January of 2024 in the presence of Master Rigan Machado. I am currently retired from active competition but use my 24-years of experience on the mats to teach, coach, and mentor the next generation of BJJ practitioners.
